Heathers the Musical
University of North Carolina School of the Arts Fall 2021
Costumes designed by Johnna Presby
Lion head sculpted in Zbrush and transferred to PruisaSlicer.
First run, quick print of the lion head to check for size and shape.
The painted lion head with small gem eyes, a little bit of antiquing and chains attached.
The lion head has a pin back and the other side is attached to a snap to the jacket to allow for quick changes.
LEDs soldered to a battery pack; two LEDs per pack.
Heat shrink tubing was applied on top of the soldered areas.
The LEDs were embedded into clear resin using a mold made from 3d printed "lenses".
Resin lenses were then painted white on the back to help with diffusion and to help the actors see.
The battery pack, wires, and lenses were attached to the glasses using glue and electrical tape, to allow for the changing of batteries as needed.
3d printed articulated fingers bought and assembled and painted. The velcro was changed for tan velcro and the elastic was dyed to match.
Horns made for Heather Chandler in the nightmare sequence. A wire base was then covered in paper mache and modpodge; the horns were then attached to a headband and covered with the same fabric that was used to make her scrunchie.
DARE T-shirt reverse tie-dyed with bleach and fiber reactive dye.
Permanent bloodstain applied to doubles of Kurt and Ram’s tank tops after they are shot.
Bias trim applied to Veronica's jacket, which was then distressed.
Fishing lures attached to vests and hats after having the hooks clipped off and blunted with hot glue.
Fabric for Heather Duke's skirt dyed down to match her jacket.
Fabric for Heather Duke's red skirt dyed to be less orange and match her jacket.
